WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) reacted strongly to President Biden’s recent visit to Northeast Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh, where the President discussed a tax plan that has raised concerns among many. Meuser expressed his disapproval of the proposed tax increases, emphasizing their potential negative impact on the middle class and small businesses.

In response to President Biden's tax proposals, Congressman Meuser stated, “President Biden continues to prove that he is nothing more than an out of touch tax-and-spend politician." He criticized the tax hikes on various sectors, including American families, small businesses, energy production, and inheritance, highlighting the potential harm they could cause to hardworking middle-class Americans.

Meuser further expressed his belief that President Biden's agenda prioritizes initiatives that may not align with the needs of blue-collar Pennsylvanians, stating, “Rather than implementing pro-growth policies that allow small businesses and their employees to thrive, he wants to stifle their ability to succeed by taxing them out of business.” The Congressman warned that these tax increases could lead to the closure of small businesses and the relocation of jobs overseas, ultimately resulting in higher consumer prices.

Calling for a different approach, Meuser emphasized the importance of understanding the challenges faced by small business owners and the workforce. He advocated for economic policies similar to those implemented during the Trump Administration, which he believes led to a prosperous economy. Meuser suggested protecting and extending provisions from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act as a way to ensure the prosperity of small businesses and families.

In addition to critiquing the overall tax plan, Congressman Meuser specifically addressed key aspects of President Biden's proposed taxes, including increases in small business tax rates, corporate tax rates, capital gains tax, and energy taxes. He raised concerns about the potential negative effects of these tax hikes on various sectors, warning of possible consequences such as job outsourcing and increased energy prices.

As the debate over President Biden's tax plan continues, Congressman Meuser's vocal opposition reflects a broader sentiment among some lawmakers and stakeholders regarding the potential implications of the proposed tax changes.
